Kia ora team! I’m Chris Tang, entering my third year of study at the University of Auckland, doing a conjoint degree in Commerce and Arts, majoring in Politics and International Relations, Economics and Finance. I grew up in West Auckland, in the beautiful suburb of Avondale. Growing up, I was exposed to many different cultures, be it my Chinese culture at home, Western culture at school, or Māori and Pasifika culture with my mates. Culture is something that I am passionate about, and I love immersing and learning about different cultures, which is why I applied for the Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Asia. Living in Auckland is a privilege for me, as it is such a culturally diverse city; in some ways, I see it as a microcosm of the world, which I can’t wait to go and explore.

I’m stoked about my internship in Mumbai, India, as I love India’s rich history and culture, not to mention the delicious food! I hope to be able to learn and get exposure to Indian culture whilst I am abroad and share my own stories and promote Aotearoa abroad., I hope to work as a diplomat in the future and foster multilateral relations for Aotearoa, so this internship abroad would be an excellent stepping stone for my journey.

I look forward to keeping you all updated on my journey in India 😊
