Our first few days in Mexico

E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā karangataga o te motu. Koia rā ahau tetahi wahine Maori, nō Aoteroa e mihi kau atu kia koutou, nō te whenua o Mexico.

Here I am, a Maori Girl from Aotearoa, New Zealand, living her dreams and experiencing another country in a way only a few can say they have had the opportunity. I am a Maori Wahine of Aotearoa, experiencing Mexico like never before.

These first few days have not only been a rollercoaster of emotions, but we’ve also struggled. However, fortunately, we have been able to overcome a few of them, and now we are all here together in the beautiful country of Mexico, being able to understand and be immersed in Mexican Culture.

Through these first four days, I have been able to really understand and identify many differences and similarities Mexico has with Aotearoa, New Zealand. I have identified the various aspects that correlate with the essential purpose of our programme, Social Realities. I am super keen and excited for the weeks ahead and am looking forward to really immersing myself further into the culture and experiencing the country furthermore.

Nga mihi,

Reina
