First-Aid kit (blister and normal plasters, alcohol wipes, antiseptic cream)
Face masks for illness and pollution. Use a scarf to mask smells to avoid offence, especially when entering homes.
Toiletry bars (soap, shampoo, conditioner) do not fall under airline quantity restrictions, are easier to pack and avoid spillage. Dry these with a towel or toilet paper in between usage.
Detergent bar and clothesline; laundry can be expensive or unavailable due to the duration of stay. Hand-washing is also affected by duration of stay – opting for light-weight, fast-drying clothes and undergarments will help.
